Applicant overview: PEN was established in 1981 to 1) provide for communication amongst teachers and others wishing to make education a force for peace, 2) provide practical support for such individuals and local groups, 3) promote peace education amongst the public at large, 4) promote links with those similarly involved in other countries and with related concerns, and 5) promote research and development in the field of peace education. Nature of support: In 1985 the Fund agreed to a single grant of £13,000 to appoint a paid administrator in the hopes of raising external contributions to PEN in subsequent years. Minutes: BCF 2592.
