Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: IFOR was founded in Holland in 1919 as a world movement for human rights. IFOR perceives the need for healing and reconciliation in the world and the founders of IFOR formulated a vision of the human community based upon the belief that love in action has the power to transform unjust political, social, and economic structures. IFOR has an active branch in South Africa. Nature of support: In 1979 the Trust approved a single grant of £1,000 to IFOR with a subsequent £3,000 approved if matching support could be found from the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust. In 1982 the Trust agreed to an annual grant of between £5,000 and £6,000 for IFOR work in South Africa. This was later increased to £6,180. In 1985 the Trust made a single grant of £500 towards IFOR Selly Oak. In 1987 the Trust offered a grant of £1,000 to IFOR to allow Third World delegates to travel to the Assisi World Conference held in 1988.
