Applicant overview: SAC began as a plan for informal meetings in the United States between Argentinean and UK officials as well as Islanders at the behest of Dr. John Burton, an experienced mediator and conflict researcher. As a consultant he is affiliated with the Department of System Science at City University. SAC was established following this conference in 1983 to follow up on these contacts through City University. Membership includes MPs, academics, politicians and businessmen from all sides of the conflict. The aim of SAC is a peaceful resolution of the Falkland Islands dispute. Nature of support: No grants were made to SAC, though a small grant of £500 was made to the related group, the Belgrano Action Group (BAG) in 1987. Minutes: BCF 2800.
