DescriptionGrant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overviews, project proposal and funding request relating to War Resisters' International (WRI). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: WRl was founded in 1921 under the name 'Paco'. It was and is based on the WRI declaration: 'War is a crime against humanity. I am therefore determined not to support any kind of war, and to strive for the removal of all causes of war'. WRl exists to promote non-violent action against the causes of war, and to support and connect people around the world who refuse to take part in war or the preparation of war. On this basis, WRI works for a world without war. Nature of support: In 1987 the Fund approved a single grant of £1,000 for a European tour by South African conscientious objectors to the UK. In 1989 the Trust approved a single grant of £10,000 for a WRI conference at Bradford University. Minutes: B&GSCT 7162, BCF 2945. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File numbered '2/16'.
