Applicant overview: PPNN is a non-governmental, international networking exercise headquartered at Southampton University and New York. It has been engaged since 1987 in an effort to promote among diplomats, government officials, the academic community and public media greater awareness of the causes of nuclear weapons proliferation, the need to deter it and the means by which this might be done. Its long-term purpose is to help support and strengthen the international nuclear non-proliferation system, while in the shorter term it seeks to contribute to the success of the conference held in 1995 to extend the duration of the non-proliferation treaty.
