Applicant overview: In 1986 Elizabeth Sigmund approached the Trust with a proposal to establish the WPCBM as a network for collecting, collating and distributing information about what is happening in the CBW world. The primary function of the Network is to maintain a sufficiently good state of current awareness for friends of the Chemical Weapons Convention to be able to judge with confidence where their individual or collective efforts would have most value in promoting the Treaty. The group consists of academics with science and political studies backgrounds and those with diplomatic experience. Nature of support: In 1989 the Trust agreed to continue support for three further years at £10,000 per annum. This grant was paid through the United Nations Association Trust. In 1992 Trustees continued support on a rolling basis at £10,000 per annum. It was decided this grant had run its course by 1995.
