Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Reconciliation Programme. Applicant overview: ISIS is the successor body to the Defence Information Groups (DIGs). ISIS was founded in 1989 to provide factual information and a variety of briefings and assessments on important issues of international security to Parliamentarians and other interested parties. Primary ISIS aims are to, 1) provide factual background information on key issues, 2) assess major policy options, 3) challenge certain assumptions, and 4) enhance the Parliamentary scrutiny of government policy. Key services include producing Briefing Papers on important and topical issues, the circulation of summaries or copies of key pieces of work already published in the field and the publication of more substantive Research Reports, providing informed perspectives on major issues.
