Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: RA works mainly in the resettlement, development and integration of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. RA also undertakes community development work and assists small refugee community organisations through capacity building and training. RA is a grassroots campaigning organisation and runs many projects looking at promoting the acceptance and equality of refugees in the UK. RA became a registered charity in 1981. Nature of support: In 2008 the Trust made a grant of £60,000 over twenty-four months towards employing a full-time National Volunteer Coordinator to develop refugee volunteering as a pathway to employment and to promote refugee and asylum seekers volunteering amongst mainstream voluntary organisations.
