Roswith Gerloff is a research student working on the subject of black churches in Birmingham. This research led the Trust to become engaged with the Central Bible Institute (CBI), Aston, which is involved in pastor training and the Black Churches Youth Project, later the United Ecumenical Youth Project (UEYP) aimed at providing a structured atmosphere for adolescents who have differing views on religion to their parents. Nature of support: A series of small Trust grants were made to support the research activities of Pastorin Roswith Gerloff. The CBI received a grant of £3,000 to acquire new premises though it was later decided to merge the CBI and UEYP property requirements together to reduce costs. An initial £10,000 grant was made to UEYP for the purpose of the purchase and renovation of new premises at the Lawler Centre in Newtown.
