Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: This file contains a number of applications under the race relations portfolio. The Walsall Christian Council works closely with the local authority and local inhabitants to encourage good community relations. A project to employ a community race relations worker was supported by the Trust and moved to a permanent footing in 1973 as the Community Exchange Committee. The Lewisham Community Industry Project (LCIP) was established 1974 to provide training for young West Indians. The project was organised by the Action Resource Centre (ARC). Nature of support: In 1973 the Trust agreed to underwrite £2,000 in building costs for the Walsall Christian Council Community Exchange Committee. A further £500 was made available in 1973. In 1974 the Trust approved a grant of £3,250 towards the salary of a director for the LCIP. A number of other small grants, mainly from the Fund, are also included in this file.
