Applicant overview: The Bangladesh Centre was established in 1980 out of the Bangladesh Workers Association (BWA), which itself emerged as part of the Indian Workers Association (IWA). In 1983 the Centre became a registered charity. It aims to promote the advancement of education and good citizenship amongst the people of Bangladesh ethnic origin living in the environs of the Centre. Nature of support: In 1993 the Trust approved a single grant of £17,000 towards the salary of a development worker at the Bangladesh Centre. Two further annual grants were approved in 1994.
