Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: The Cadbury Trusts received a considerable number of requests for building appeal aid, many of these requests from churches. This file contains a number of funding requests by churches with predominantly black congregations in Birmingham. These appeals were judged on a case-by-case basis. Nature of support: The 1982 the Trust approved a grant of £963.53 for professional charges incurred in the purchase of All Souls Church, Witton, from the Church of England. In 1983 the Trust approved a small grant to cover surveyors, accountants and legal fees relating to the purchase of the Church of God of Prophecy in Handsworth by an offshoot of the Church of North India. That same year the Trust approved £1,700 to survey Westminster Road Community Development premises in a former church. A further £1,000 grant was made towards legal and surveyor fees relating to the Church of First Born Assembly of God and their purchase of St. Paul's Church, Lozells.
