| Description | Grant file containing correspondence, minutes, payments summary, annual reports, newspaper cuttings, agendas, reports, leaflets and project proposals relating to the United Evangelical Youth Project (UEYP). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: In 1973 Reverend J.B. Corbett set up the Central Bible Institute (CBI) to enable local people in the Aston/Handsworth area to receive training so that they would be more effective in meeting the needs of the area through their ministry. It also became clear that there was a need for the churches to try and meet some of the very pressing social needs that exist in the Aston/Handsworth area, particularly among young people. This recognition gave rise to the UEYP and dedicated staff to address pressing social needs. UEYP provides supplementary education, career guidance and counselling, hostel accommodation, summer camps and home/school liaison work. Nature of support: In 1981 the Trust decided to continue its support of the UEYP at £7,500 per year from 1982 to 1984. For 1985 the Trust approved a grant of £2,000 to offset UEYP moving costs. Minutes: B&GSCT 5413, B&GSCT 6204. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File numbered '3/7/3'. |
