Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: The Trust has occasionally supported mother tongue teaching in Birmingham. Nature of support: In 1984 the Trust approved an umbrella minute allocating £1,500 for mother tongue teaching programmes in a community, non-sectarian context. In 1985 the Trust approved a grant of up to £3,000 to create a video training package on the use interpreters in the voluntary sector. This grant was paid through the National Extension College, Cambridge. Mother tongue teaching grants were discontinued in 1987 due to a lack of demand.
