Applicant overview: JCWI was established in 1967 to campaign for justice in immigration, nationality and refugee law policy. In addition to providing advice to those affected by immigration issues, the JWCI also carries out public information work and coordinates the efforts of voluntary sector organisations in immigration, nationality and refugee matters. DFC was created through a research proposal to investigate the situation of divided families from Bangladesh, working in particular from experiences of organisations in the West Midlands regions assisting such families. Nature of support: In 1986 the Fund approved a grant of £6,000 to the DFC. In 1987 grants that were not paid to the defunct Immigration Aid Unit in Saltley were transferred to the JCWI through the Immigrants Aid Trust.
