Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: Ashram Community was formed in 1967 to promote Christian community life and action. It was constituted and registered as a charitable trust. The Sparkbrook Ashram Community House began in 1977. ACSP activities include promoting small business, supporting home workers, training, individual work counselling, home care and maintenance, volunteer work, running a legal advice bureau, reclaiming derelict land and operating Ashram Asian Vegetables. Nature of support: In 1982 the Trust offered a grant of £2,500 toward running costs. In 1984 the Trust approved two annual grants totalling £2,620 and £3.000 respectively. These grants were allocated to support the cost of a part-time secretary. In 1985 the Trust agreed to double its annual grant to allow a full-time secretary to be employed.
