Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The initial proposal to open the Centre emerged from Birmingham Polytechnic in 1986. The Centre is a joint venture between black voluntary organisations in Birmingham, social services departments in the West Midlands and academic staff to train and place trainee social workers in black voluntary organisations.
