Applicant overview: Sampad was established in 1983 and exists to develop a deep and distinctive structure of South Asian arts in Birmingham and Britain through production, promotion, advocacy, education and outreach activity. Sampad aims to be inclusive in all its practices and will be as concerned with the pursuit of excellence as it will be with widening access. Nature of support: In 1989 the 1990/1991 Black Arts block grant was allocated to the Asian Arts Resource Centre (AARC). In 1991 the Trust approved two annual grants of £15,000 to Sampad for salary costs. In 1993 the Trust agreed to underwrite Sampad core costs in 1993/1994 for up to £8,500.
