Applicant overview: Following the closure of NAP in 1981 the SCP was initiated by former NAP staff and supporters as a volunteer project. The aims of the SCP are 1) to provide a day and evening, non-residential drop in centre for ex-offenders and ex-prisoners, 2) to provide books, periodicals and educational materials to prisoners, free of charge, 3) to publish every six-months, an information sheet (Prisoners Yellow Pages) that will give listings of agencies and various organisations that may be of use to prisoners who are being released, and 4) to encourage prisoners to use and develop their creative and artistic skills, and to, wherever possible, have their work exhibited, published or performed. Nature of support: In 1981 Southfield Trustees recommended a single grant of £250 be paid by the Fund towards the £1,500 required for the SCP. Minutes: BCF 2085.
