Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd., Southfield Trust. Applicant overview: PROS was set up in 1976 with the aim of abolishing the term 'common prostitute', the offences of soliciting and loitering for the purpose of prostitution and an end to prison sentences for these offences. Nature of support: In 1980 the Southfield Trust recommended that three grants of up to £5,000 be made available to PROS for administrative costs. The Fund made a grant of £1,000 for part of 1981 and 1982 followed by a single grant of £7,000 for 1982 to 1983. A final £1,000 grant was made for 1983.
