Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: Voice of Aston was established in 2003 to address the lack of youth involvement in policy and political decisions within the area of Aston, Birmingham. The organisation is fully constituted, and the management committee consists entirely of local youth, largely from an Asian and Afro-Caribbean background. The group tends to work with 14 to 21 year olds at risk of offending. For the under 18s the focus is on prevention. The majority of this group is male though the activities of the group tend to be mixed. Nature of support: In 2005 the Trust approved a grant of £30,000 over two years to fund the post of part-time co-ordinator, volunteer expenses and sessional hours for 18 to 24 year olds to undertake peer reinforcement work/peer education. Minutes: T05/06-40. Notes: Copy minutes are not included though minutes are referenced in the file sheet. File organised by subject. File not numbered. |
