Applicant overview: Merfyn Turner has extensive experience in the field of rehabilitation and hostel care. He has carried out research and interviews with British prisoners overseas and has good relations with prison authorities in Turkey. He is affiliated with the Norman House prisoners’ charity. Nature of support: In 1978 the Southfield Trust recommended to Fund Directors that some additional pension support should be provided for Turner in recognition of his service. In 1979 the Trust made a grant of £1,000 through Norman House for Turner's work. In 1981 the Fund made a grant of £600 towards a return visit to Turkey for prisoner research following the release of the film 'Midnight Express'.
