Applicant overview: The FWA became a registered charity in 1965 with the aims of relieving hardship among people in conditions of need by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities calculated to reduce the need, hardship and distress of such person. In 1986 the FWA proposed an experimental adult offenders diversion scheme in conjunction with the Northamptonshire Social Services Department and the Northamptonshire Police. The aim of the scheme is to divert certain categories of offender away from the Court process, and to provide assistance to these offenders through the use of resources in the community linked with a Police Caution. Nature of support: In 1985 Southfield Trustees recommended three annual grants of £7,500 per annum to the FWA project. Minutes: B&GSCT 6210, ST 18/85.
