LevelFile
Date1978 - 1988
DescriptionGrant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overview, annual reports, accounts, constitution and funding requests relating to 870 House Youth Unit (HYU). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Southfield Trust. Applicant overview: 870 House provides a specialist, remedial youth service for the Selly Oak and surrounding districts of Birmingham. The House is not a youth club in the normally accepted sense. It is specialist in that it combines the various skills of a social worker, group worker, youth leader and teacher under one single service. It is remedial in that its membership is selected on the basis that each individual is suffering from personal, social or educational problems, which require intensive, multi-disciplinary treatment. Nature of support: In 1983 the Trust made a single grant of £1,000 to HYU for outdoor equipment. In 1984 Southfield Trustees recommended a single grant of £3,000 to cover a budget shortfall. In 1986 the Trust agreed to a grant of £5,000 and to underwrite a further £5,000 for the cost of new HYU premises. Minutes: B&GSCT 5710, B&GSCT 5898, B&GSCT 6535, B&GSCT 6897, ST 23/84. Notes: File organised by date from newest to oldest. File numbered 'EA/5/3'.
