Applicant overview: PROP was launched on 11 May 1972 to 'preserve, protect and to extend the rights of prisoners and ex-prisoners and to assist in their rehabilitation and re-integration into society, so as to bring about a reduction in crime'. PROP was established by a group of prisoners and ex-prisoners. Nature of support: In 1984 the Fund approved a single grant of £4,000 to PROP. A further £5,000 was approved in 1985. In 1986 a further single annual grant of £5,000 was approved followed by three further annual grants of the same total. In 1989 annual grants were extended for three years at £6,000 per annum.
