| Description | Grant file containing correspondence, minutes, end note, agendas, newsletters, leaflets, programmes and funding requests relating to the employment of a neighbourhood worker on the Pineapple Estate in Stirchley, Birmingham. Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: In 1978 a small group of parents established a youth club on the Pineapple Estate. With the support of the Birmingham City Council Housing Department this association became the Dawberry Tenants Association (DTA). The employment of a community worker for the DTA was modelled on successful community work carried out in the Bells Farm Estate in Druids Heath. The DTA operates a social club at Dawberry Hall with drop in coffee mornings, a mother and toddler group, a regular playgroup and holiday playschemes and sporting activities. Nature of support: In 1980 the Trust agreed to a grant of £2,000 to appoint a part time community worker at the DTA. This was paid through the Fund. In 1981 the degree of annual assistance was increased to £2,500 per annum. Minutes: B&GSCT 5144, B&GSCT 5318, BCF 1955, BCF 2072, BCF 2102. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest.
