Applicant overview: CW (formerly Coventry Independent Consultative Agency and Independent Community Work and Adult Education Agency, Coventry) was established as a pilot project in 1973 to provide community advice on legal, housing, planning, public health and economic problems from an independent perspective not associated with local government. CW aims to provide 1) support for workers and the unemployed and tenants and residents to gain strength through collective action, 2) assistance in examining issues faced by labour and community organisations and 3) make relevant skills and information available to workers and community organisations. Nature of support: In 1974 the Trust made a grant of up to £1,500 for a feasibility study. Full support for the CW was approved later in 1974 at the level of £10,000 per annum for five years.
