Funding source(s): Paul S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The CWRU was established in 1976 by the British Council of Churches. It was a response to the growing number of requests for help by local churches that were beginning to work with in the local community. The remit of the unit as 1) advocacy at the national level of community work practice and encouragement of release of resources for community work, 2) promotion of community work training within courses administered by the church training agencies, and 3) development of existing networks to sustain good local practice.
