Funding source(s): IVS was founded in 1921 and became a registered charity in 1978 with the aim of affording opportunities by which men and women, in a spirit of friendship, international understanding and voluntary discipline, may, without regard to their race, religion, creed or politics be encouraged and enabled to give to the community, either individually or in groups, effective voluntary service. Nature of support: In 1986 the Trust agreed to a £300 grant paid through IVS to allow a Birmingham University student to join a nutrition project in Sudan.
