Applicant overview: The Trust had devoted considerable funds to the ARRG project which had carried out a study of alcoholic behaviour through Birmingham University that subsequently led the creation of a number of hostels and a day centre for alcoholics in the Midlands. To oversee the provision of public services the charity Aquarius was set up. FARE is a grant issuing charity with a focus on research into alcoholism and related issues. A FARE supported project, Out of Court, aims to divert drunk and drunk and disorderly offenders from the prison system through the provision of emergency treatment facilities. Nature of support: This file relates primarily to the findings of the ARRG though a small Trust grant was made to help meet report publication costs.
