TitleBusiness Meetings - Minutes
LevelFile
Date1977 - 1981
DescriptionThis [incomplete] sequence of copy minutes runs from 26/01/1977 to 12/03/1981 and covers the period of Banner's consolidation and change to a company limited by guarantee.

Issues considered include Banner's organisation and structures, production and operational matters, finances, touring, transport and volunteering. Funding bids are discussed, as are the duties of the Banner co-ordinator and the Handsworth Project. The loan of equipment to the producers of 'Birmingham Broadside' magazine is approved and the Charles Parker Memorial Trust and archive is considered. Reference is also made to the representative bodies ACA and TACT.

Productions discussed include a joint venture with AFFOR, a proposed project on Telford - Ironbridge, 'Saltley Gate', 'The Race Show', 'Great Divide', 'Womankind', 'Dr Healey's Casebook', 'Steel', 'On the Brink' and support for a suggested production by the Chile Solidarity Campaign. A possible record of songs concerning race was also considered.

Ideas for potential new productions were also considered.

Enclosed papers include songs and projected income & expenditure for the Charles Parker Memorial weekend [at the Victoria Theatre, Stoke on 05/06/1981], 'Charlie' by Kathleen McCreery and 'Comments on 'The Radio Ballads' by Ewan MacColl'. The latter was written by Peter Yates of Banner, in response to an article which was taken as a partial criticism of Charles Parker.

Note: one set of minutes is partially illegible [nd] as are those for December 1977 and 15/07/1978
