Included are an annotated copy of Dave Rogers' typed unit notes for 'Black and White in the Red' and typed recording notes, with a list of issues and items for consideration 'Post Essex'. There are also three sheets of handwritten notes.
The file contains an incomplete photocopy [p. 3 - 27] of an unidentified assessment of Women's Studies course and programmes in U.K. universities. Bias and discrimination on class, race and sexual orientation are discussed. Handwritten notes have been made on the reverse of some of these sheets.
3 undated copies of 'Flagship', the magazine of the Gay and Lesbian Support Group of the Fire Brigades Union are contained in this file. These consider both issues specific to the fire service and also those relating to the gay and lesbian communities generally: Volume 2, Issue 1 contains an article concerning Black attitudes to homosexuality, Volume 2, Issue 2 contains an article about 'Co-operation Ireland', a charity that promotes links between nationalists and unionists, Volume 3, Issue 1 contains an article about the 1999 TUC report 'Straight Up! Why the law should protect lesbian and gay workers'.
A Guardian newspaper article on the 1960 'Woolworth White Counter' protest in Greensboro, North Carolina is included [22/07/2000]. Also retained is an undated, photocopied extract from a CRE [Commission for Racial Equality] report into housing conditions for Black and Asians in Britain.
