TitleCopy B Saltley 2 Actuality 1 - 100
LevelFile
Date1973 - 1974
DescriptionThis file contains loose sheets of handwritten notes. These record details for incorporating actuality into the performance, including script pages and tape numbers. Extracts of oral testimony by miners and factory workers are included, including Brian Bird [shop steward at Rover [British Leyland], Solihull and later a senior Labour politician with Birmingham City Council], Arthur Harper [shop steward of British Leyland's Tractor and Transmission plant at Washwood Heath and later President of AEU Birmingham East - Amalgamated Engineering Union], Alan Law [organiser for the TGWU's midland transport group - Transport and General Workers' Union] and Arthur Scargill [Yorkshire Executive Committee of the NUM - National Union of Mineworkers]. These transcripts focus primarily on the situation at Saltley, but some discussion of general mining issues also occurs. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of interviewees. There are also transcripts of tape recordings made for 'Collier Laddie'.

The sheets are numbered from 216 to 544, but this is not a complete sequence. [Sheet 543 is included in MS 1611/B/9/2]. There are also a few unnumbered sheets of notes. The majority of these sheets are on 'office flimsy' paper, which are now very fragile and require careful handling.
