Transcripts 106 and 107 were both recorded on 19/12/1973. 106 details the view of Maerdy miners that this industrial dispute was a critical element for them. There is also a discussion of industrial relations and wage structures on the South Wales coalfield. Police tactics in dealing with mass pickets in Birmingham are also described.

107 is a continuation of interviews recorded in 106. Background information on the local Maerdy response to the 1972 miners' strike is given. With relation to Birmingham, a miner reports that the government had issued instructions to the police that 'Saltley Gate' was to be kept open at all costs.
