His personal views on the role of the police in this dispute are recorded, as are instructions given by union leaders regarding pickets' interaction with the police.
A favourable opinion is given of the support offered to pickets by Birmingham students, including those from Fircroft College and its use as a base for miners. Descriptions of incidents on the picket line against strike breaking lorry drivers are provided.
The period of silence offered by the 'Saltley Gate' picket line to mark of the funeral of a picket killed by a lorry at Keadby Power Station, Lincolnshire is also recorded. |
