| Description | This section contains both letters written to Archibald Douglas and copies of correspondence sent by him. This latter material largely relates to his business interests and contains a wealth of information about his connections with various merchant ships and privateers, and his trading connections, particularly with merchants in Lisbon. The former material consists mainly of letters from friends and acquaintances, but also includes one letter from his daughter Isabella Strutt. A theme of some of the letters from friends and acquaintances is a dispute between Archibald Douglas and his son William. |
