The clips also include discussion of reasons for leaving Ireland as teenagers, including reference to poverty and social conditions in Ireland in the early twentieth century. The clip sinclude sections of McHugh's actualities in which he discusses the emotions of arriving in England, the culture shock of urban English society and trying to find other Irish people to socialise with.
