DescriptionInterview with Jean Russell, proof reader at the Scottish braille press. She continues to talk about her work proof reading voice parts for church choirs for use by blind or partially sighted choirmasters, and some of the errors she has found. Jean Russell and her colleague work together to correct and transcribe musical notation and she shows Charles Parker the piece of music she is working on, singing extracts to him. She explains how braille is used to write music, the different meanings of symbols depending on the context in which they are used and her perception of the symbols. Philip Donnellan describes wallpaper patterns to her and she explains why she thinks rooms are nice, based on her other senses. She talks about her other senses as tools to compensate for her loss of sight and discusses her experience of losing her sight as a small child after having measles. She talks about being able to visualise colours and thinks this must be a memory from early childhood (tracks 1-5).
