Interview with David Smith from Halesowen, a student at Harborne. He talks about how he lost his sight, his family background, being able to talk about engineering with his father, and the possibility of joining an apprentice scheme. He discusses not being able to read at school and having blackouts, missing being able to play sports and go cycling, and getting used to using a white stick to travel around. He expresses his dislike of people feeling sorry for him, and his feelings that sighted people look down on him (tracks 2-4).
Interview with Colin McSweeney from Bristol, a student at Harborne. He talks about his mobility and his problems reading measurements, his education at blind schools in Bristol and working as a warehouse boy before coming to Harborne to train for a job in telephony. David Smith joins the conversation to talk about the attitudes of sighted people towards them, the difficulties arising from blind and partially sighted people living in such close proximity at Harborne and accepting the situation (tracks 5-7).
