Mr Hernton speaks about racism and inter-racial relationships, and compares views in America to those in Britain. He makes reference to the class system in Britain and the secrecy of inter-racial relationships. He discusses the double standard between white societies' view of black men with white women, and black women with white men relationships, with reference to the legacy of the slave trade in America.

Tracks 9 - 14: The interview resumes. Mr Hernton gives his assesment on the situation for mixed race couples in Britain in comparison to the situation in America. He makes reference to the couples' motivations and the different ways that racism is expressed in the different countries. Mr Hernton speaks about the difficulties that mixed-race children experience, and how their experiences may differ between Britain and America. In speaking about this he makes reference to the pressure put on inter-racial couples to 'think about the children' as a way to make their relationship break up.
