He makes reference to the couples' motivations and the different ways that racism is expressed in the different countries. Mr Hernton speaks about the difficulties that mixed-race children experience, and how their experiences may differ between Britain and America. In speaking about this he makes reference to the pressure put on inter-racial couples to 'think about the children' as a way to make their relationship break up.
