| Description | Elizabeth thanks her parents for the letters and newspapers they had sent to her. She notes that she had found a piece of chalk wrapped up in paper with 'Elsie' written on it in a box of things sent to her by her parents and asks if it was intended for anything in particular.
Elizabeth appears concerned about arrangements for her education in the future. She asks her parents 'what are your plans for me next summer?' adding 'I'd as soon come back here I think as anywhere'. Elizabeth writes that she wouldn't mind being sent to a school in England but would 'like to go to France', adding 'please think of that.'
Elizabeth writes that there had been snow and frost recently in Saxe-Meiningen and remarks on her improved language skills, writing 'I can read German to understand it quite perfectly'. Elizabeth also notes how pleased she was with her and her sister Margaret's bath tub which she remarks was far better than 'the dreadful little tubs the others have.'
Please note that a small piece of green paper is enclosed loose within this letter featuring an illustration of a rabbit driving a horse and cart pulled by two sheep and a man in a straw hat. |
