| Description | Elizabeth thanks Janet for her recent letter and writes about a trip she had been on to a German market. She describes the elaborate dress and large bonnets which she had seen people wearing, as well as the 'tremendous bunches of flowers' hanging in the market. Elizabeth notes that she had bought a small fruit cake and some sweets.
Later in the letter Elizabeth refers to a visit by an old pupil who had once boarded at the school in Saxe-Meiningen and notes that she had been caught exchanging secret notes with one of her school-friends.
Please note that this letter features crossed writing and is difficult to read in places. |
