| Description | In this letter Janet refers to Quarterly Meeting and visits by family as well as her recent ill health. She writes about an incident at the home of the Taylor's neighbours, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, when their chimney had caught fire. She also describes the Taylor family's recent stay in Croydon. Elizabeth's mother Mary Taylor added her own comments at the end of Janet's letter, wishing Elizabeth 'a happy year' at school in Germany, 'a year of rich blessing & of progress in good'. She also thanks Elizabeth for the portrait which she had sent home.
