DescriptionMary Taylor begins her letter by calling Elizabeth a 'funny child' and commenting on her handwriting. She remarks on Elizabeth's suggestion that her cousin Hannah Lucas come and live with the Taylors at Sunbury following the death of her father Samuel Lucas. Mary Taylor refers to recent events at home including a public ceremony where family friends were to receive honours and the engagement of a cousin. In addition, she writes about the engagement of a familly friend aged 35 to a man called Richard Allen who was 76 and had one eye. Mary Taylor also remarks on the death and funeral of her cousin Henry Harris.
This letter relates to a letter sent by Elizabeth Taylor to her father and mother relating to arrangements for Hannah Lucas to come and live with the Taylor family.
