TitleLetter from Elizabeth Taylor to John and Mary Jane Taylor
LevelItem
Date[n.d. 1876]
DescriptionThis letter was written by Elizabeth Taylor whilst she was visiting their cousin Lucy with her elder sister Margaret (Pearlie) in Stockton during the 1870s. Elizabeth describes how miserable her visit was, referring to the 'close & stuffy' rooms and noting how she had thrown open the windows at the first opportunity. Elizabeth describes her frustration, noting how slowly time was passing in the quiet atmosphere of the house which she was finding extremely boring. She writes that Lucy had taken both her and Margaret out, noting how relieved she was to be able to sing and shout. Elizabeth concludes her letter noting how much better she felt to have vented her feelings to her parents.
