DescriptionThis section contains reminiscences and memoirs written by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury throughout her life, recording her experiences and memories of remarkable events and valued friendships.

In 1895 Taylor Cadbury returned to the German town of Saxe-Meiningen where she had attended school with her elder sister Margaret Taylor between 1872 and 1874. Following their visit Taylor Cadbury recorded her reminiscences of her school days and her recent experiences of Saxe-Meiningen twenty years after she had left school in the town, producing the typescript entitled 'Reminiscences' which is featured in this section.

In 1948, aged ninety, Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury provided a short account of events and experiences which stood out in her memory for publication in an article celebrating her ninetieth birthday which was published in the 'Birmingham Mail'. This section features a handwritten copy of Taylor Cadbury's memoirs and also a typed version which was sent to the Chief Reporter of the newspaper on 21st June 1948. In addition, the section contains a number of longer reminiscences written by Taylor Cadbury based on the themes and events referred to in her published memoirs. It is possible that these typescripts were written as chapters intended for a longer book of memoirs which Taylor Cadbury was writing during this period. These typescripts explore Taylor Cadbury's interest in music and writing and provide an insight into the many friendships which she formed throughout her long life.
