DescriptionDr. P. D. Innes, Chief Education Officer to the City of Birmingham Education Committee wrote to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury following her resignation from her post as Chairman of the city's Hygiene Sub-Committee in November 1924.
In this resolution of thanks Innes remarks that members of the Hygiene Sub-committee had 'resolved with unanimity to place on record their deep obligation' to Taylor Cadbury for her services as Chairman. Innes writes that members had acknowledged the importance of Taylor Cadbury's 'guidance' under which 'the School Medical Service had progressed to its present high state of efficiency'. He adds that the 'success' of the service owed much to her 'energetic leadership' and 'untiring efforts'.

Innes also expressed his personal gratitude to Taylor Cadbury, writing that working with her in the development of Birmingham's school medical services had been 'a pleasure and a privilege'.

Pencil annotations added by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury feature on this letter, recording that she served as Chairman of the Hygiene Sub-Committee between December 1911 and November 1924. An annotation in the top right hand corner reveals that she categorised the letter as a record of 'Civic Recognition' for her achievements in this role.
