AdminHistoryIn 1919 Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury entered local politics by accepting her nomination for membership of Birmingham City Council at a by-election in the Kings Norton Ward. After a 'strenuous electioneering campaign' Taylor Cadbury won this municipal election and served as Birmingham City Councillor for Kings Norton until 1924. In 1923 she became involved in national politics after being invited by the Kings Norton Divisional Liberal Council to stand for election as the Liberal Party Member of Parliament in the forthcoming General Election. However, Taylor Cadbury was defeated at this election held on 6th December 1923 which was won by the Conservative Party candidate Sir Herbert Austin. Following her defeat Taylor Cadbury retired from politics to focus on work supporting improved international relations and the development of hospital services in Birmingham.
