| Description | Following her correspondence with Finch, Lady Edna Gowan, the President of the Central College for Women in Nagpur, issued an appeal for financial support to found a scholarship to send a girl from the Friends' School at Sohagpur to study at the College. Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury responded to this appeal, donating money in support of the work of the Friends' Mission towards the development of educational opportunities for women in India. In this letter Edna Gowan thanks Taylor Cadbury for donating money, writing 'it is the greatest encouragement to us all to know that public spirited & internationally-guided people in England are taking so much interest in our efforts for the women of India'.
Gowan also refers to work supporting the Girl Guides movement in India and other developing projects providing education and recreation for Indian girls which Taylor Cadbury had visited in Hoshangabad. Gowan also refers to some personal and social enquiries which Taylor Cadbury had made. |
