DescriptionThis document is a copy of the statement instigated by the Women's International League which was produced by Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence (1867-1954) and Agatha Harrison (1885-1954). The statement was enclosed in a letter written by Lawrence which was sent to the women who supported the appeal. Printed in block capitals, the statement emphasises the importance of ending the political deadlock between Britain and India and encourages negotiation regarding imprisoned members of the Indian Congress Party. The names of the seventy one women who supported the appeal are printed underneath the statement.
